Penumbra (2015-2016)

Penumbra, referring to the area of transition between light and shadow, is a series of photographic observations that delves into the concept of becoming. Through a lens that captures the subtle shifts of light, Penumbra explores ordinary, commonplace, and familiar domestic spaces, where the boundaries between presence and absence blur. These images invite the viewer to reflect on the overlooked details and quiet moments that shape our everyday lives, drawing attention to the complexity of the familiar and the subtle manifestations of the everyday.

Captured in large-scale color photographs, Penumbra serves as a meditation on intimate space and the ordinary. Created during a period of personal transition, the work conveys feelings of loneliness, isolation, hope, and potential through the careful observation of light and space. The entry point for the viewer is light, which guides the exploration of each image, revealing depth and nuance as one looks more closely.
